Bass Sores/Disease/Cuts/Growths

Featured Replies

I was fishing earlier this morning with a younger angler and I hooked into this small mouth bass with a wound or growth on it but I don’t know the difference since I’m not very experienced. Just wanted to know if it’s a virus or what it might be . My dad said it could be from a bird or maybe a boat propeller but I wanted to see what others thought

thanks

Could be a lot of things caused that. Maybe it was caught and dropped, and the slime coat was rubbed off there. I caught one with worse damage than that recently

Ok thank you for letting me know I was just curious if I caught another one

Sometimes they damage themselves spawning, sometimes a muskie grabs them, sometimes I think they just get slammed off a rock...there are so many possibilities.

Somehow, someway I’d bet that fish will make it just fine.

I’ve seen a couple worse than that also.

It’s a tough world down under where we can’t see.
