My seat screw keep falling out

Featured Replies

Any Ideas?  I used locktight

So you put locktite on the thread and screwed it in and it still came loose and fell out?  Is the screw semi-tight when srewing it in?

What is the screw threading into?

Loctite only works for machined screws going into matched threads.

If it is a screw and not a bolt then you may have to go to a bigger size.  If it is actually a bolt then wrap the threads with teflon tape.  Several wraps may be needed to get it to fit snugly.

The seat is a standard seat

The screws hold it to my swivel base that bolts to my post

The screws go into the plastic bottom,  I tighten them as much as I can, and they do get very tight, they just drop out after a while.

I just thought of something, a split washer should do the trick!

You may have a defective seat. Or they gave you the wrong screws.

I have three of them they all do it over time.  I added the split washers to keep the tension on the screws, time will tell.

Ya Lock washers should help, if not you may have to get more agressive and use some 2 part epoxy on the bolts then screw them in and let them cure up.  Its abt the only option left besides replacing the seats.  Sounds like they may have been over tightened and possibly stripped, been there done that.
