Clear water mono wt.?

Featured Replies

I usually fish a western clear water reservoir, Eastman Lake,  Madera,  Ca.  I've been using 14lb mono Trilene XL for topwater,  and crankbaits.  Sometime I do ok on these sometimes not.  Someone suggested I might do better with lighter line.  I can't see it but does anyone think dropping down to 10lb would make enough difference to matter?

You will cast light lures further and crankbaits will run deeper so maybe. Moving lures bass are typically not as line shy, except maybe with noisy braid, and if you are not already maybe try the ghost colored lures.

Lighter line will definitely make you lure presentations change, which may get you more bites.

Try it out, you have nothing to lose.

No...Your line is fine,

I use #11 Sunline Shooter Deifer Armilo for all treble hooks.
