How do you prefer to rig your keitechs.

Featured Replies

I have been rigging my 3.8 and now 4.3 keitechs on 1/4 jig heads and have been looking at weighted swimbait hooks to minimize snags and losing them, but the weight only go up to 1/8 ounce. Is this enough to get deep and is it worth switching? How do y'all rig yours and why?

I generally use mine on 3/8 oz swimjig heads, chatterbaits, and spinnerbaits.

I will on occasion if the bite is slow, shrink my presentation and put them on a siwimbait hook which will sometimes coax some bites. The swimbait hook will not get as deep as the swimjig.

If I am fishing an actual Keitech I use the least amount of weight possiabe, usually either a 1/8-3/0 swimabait hook or a 4/0 Twistlock and a pair of 1/32 nail weights.  To me the reason spend the money on an actual Keitech is their very subtle movement at low speed/low weights. For deeper/faster presentations I use either a Rage Swimmer or one of the Gambler swimbaits.

I fish em Texas rigged with 1/4 oz. Tungsten weights pegged and 3 to 4/0 worm hooks with keepers on the bend. Let's me crawl em on the bottom or thru grass or speed up and fish em over grass

It may be me, but I do better with jig or pegged weight.  Weighted hooks, not so mucn

You can take a swimbait hook without a keel weight and add what weight you want with the Bass Pro Shops hook weights.  They're kind of hard to crimp on, I use lineman's pliers.  You'll get snagged less with the swimbait hooks, but miss less fish with jighead, and so I only use the swimbait hooks in places the jighead gets snagged.
