Flick Shake w/o Specialized Heads?

Featured Replies

With this technique can you use a regular round or football head in place of a specialized flick shake head? I ask, because it would allow me to utilize what tackle I have on hand. It appears to me that there is not much difference between the two. Please let me know if I am wrong and what makes a flick shake head more effective.

Thanks....Joe

You can, and obviously some will work better than others. I've caught lots of bass doing it with just my mushroom heads I Ned rig with. Specialized heads are set up for a variety of reasons such as weedless, hook gap, line tie angle, etc. All offer certain benefits but no one head does absolutely everything well, so play around and get a feel for it. You'll realize at some point it might benefit you to go more specialized if you really get into the technique.

You can clamp,a split shot on a worm hook for wacky jig.
