So i am pretty new to bass fishing, as i just got my new abu garcia revo x reel. I just had a quick question about the brakes. So on the braking system (which is external) i turned the pin the short way, or instead of turning the pin all the way around (left) i took the easy way from min to max by turning right. Could this potentially damage my reel? Or is it fine to just keep right?

The braking system isn't external, just the dial to control the magnets is external, the magnets themselves are under the side-plate. I'm not sure, but you might have broken the link between the dial and the magnets by doing that, which means you can't adjust the brakes anymore.

Welp... how do tell if the brakes are working or not?

Welcome aboard!

I'll let the Abu folks give you the advice you need. I'm

more along the Shimano/Diawa line :D .

so i just opened up the the case that holds the magnets. The space from min to max is covered by circular type magnet things. Does this mean that i may have not broken the connection?

I think he thinks you broke the connection from the dial to the magnetic plate. Which would not allow you to control the strength of the brake.

Sounds like you are now looking at the actual magnet which is essentially the actual brake.

Im sorry if im starting to get annoying but is there any way to fix this? or possibly a way to open the case and adjust the magnets individually like a centrifugal brake?
