A local shop still has a couple of Duckett Terex "Dean Rojas" edition 7' M/f DFTX70MCC Crankin' rods on clearance for 1/2 price ($80 CDN, which equates about $60 USD).  If matched with an appropriate reel, would this be a good dedicated crankbait rod?

I read that there have been some issues with guides breaking on Duckett rods, but this rod (and the M/H I bought for general use) does not have the micro guides and the handle is marked as having Fuji guides, so I believe these are an updated/improved version?

 

I really don't "need" a crankbait rod anytime soon, so have no problem waiting for a better rod for next season but I hate just as much to pass over a great deal.

I have a terex but not the cranking model. It’s my jig rod, reminds me of the micro magic but with bigger guides. I have a micro magic cranking 7’ M rod that I bought when the Ducketts first came out and have had zero issues with it. It’s a good smaller crank rod but I feel like throwing baits such as a wiggle wart on it, the rod has too much flex. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it though, I have 12 Duckett rods and couldn’t be happier.

I own this rod and it fills the niche of throwing square bills and medium divers well. No complaints here.
