Best way to break down a lake..

Featured Replies

I am in a pinch. I only have two days to figure out where these fish are. This October, I have a fishing tournament at Ross Barnett. I have a few offshore spots and areas that might be good shallow. I just don't want to waste a lot of time. I am struggling this year for my high school tournaments. Any info would help. Thanks.

By any chance do you have a map of the lake? Preferably a topographical.

I do but its in my fish finder, I can't get it to transfer to my laptop. The lake is near Brandon, Ms.

Do some interweb searching and see what you can find out about the lake and maybe past tournaments.  Other than that I'd just look at the mapping on ur graph and try to pick out high percentage areas. Flats,  channel swings etc. Good luck

Id say look for the largest creek arm or a large one in general. Start at the back and work your way out or vice versa. Look for the third of the creek most bass are using whether its the backs, mid-creek, or the mouths. Then repeat that around the lake. Or just go up the river and flip every piece of cover. Thats how Dustin Connell won in 2k17. Whether you are shallow, deep, or in between youre always looking for baitfish, rocks, wood, anything thats different no matter the depth or structure that's around. Many bass when they actually feed will do so on barren structure contary to popular belief. Barren areas are easier to move around freely on and feast on shad for a bass. Especially in lowlight periods like early morning
