  1. I love throwing that rig around here where I fish. I've had a lot of big fish success this time of year.
  2. I hear ya, Im driving a Pontiac sedan around. Good luck with finding a trailer! I know that using racks on top of your vehicle will work well it just takes a little upper body strength ?
  3. Thanks guys will consider getting a better used one.
  4. I know they make a bar that you can mount across the back of your truck bed that helps to just slide it out of the back. Its actually really easy to use and less expensive.
  5. I'm looking at buying a new boat in the near future. I was wondering if it would be better to buy one brand new or to get a cheaper used one. I've bought several used boats in the past but they ended up being fixer upers… I'm starting to learn that B.O.A.T. really does mean break out another thousand. Would love to know your thoughts and ideas. Thank you
  6. I've learned a lot about fishing off of the internet, but there is nothing like learning from a well seasoned angler. I love to talk with older fisherman and learn their secrets. (if they are willing to tell lol)
  7. It might be a good idea to send in your stats and rankings from your previous tournaments to certain teams. It takes a lot of sending and hoping. I plan on doing that. I'm a junior in high school and hoping for the same thing. I fish four different trails and have been able to accommodate quite a few sponsors by showing my stats. Maybe that will work for you.
  8. Welcome to the sport my dude. That is a nice starter boat! I started out with a Johnson as my first motor with a spitfire boat. (It was a really small boat) Tight lines!
  9. I've learned that when the water temp is lower the bass tend to veer away from the more aggressive/bigger trailers. Just something simple like the zoom chunk would work great. Towards the spring and summer months I tend to use bigger trailers, I have even used brush hogs on. This past weekend, the water was 57 degrees, the pattern I was catching them on was fishing in the mouths of feeder creeks off of the main river. I was flipping lizards, and craws under lay downs. So you can still get away with flipping in the colder time of year. It doesn't matter what time of year it is, the creek stays the same temp. The creeks are my go to when I can't figure things out on the lakes or rivers. Hope this helps somewhat.
  10. Pickwick lake, good for numbers and trophies.
  11. Going fishing in the winter may be a day where you can barely catch five but those five that you do catch are worth talking about! Winter is the best time to catch your PB bass. I caught mine around this time last year, throwing a crankbait on a road bed. There can also be days your only catch one. That's part of fishing, we call it that for a reason, we don't call it catching. ?
  12. I would say fishing is the most expensive sport besides golf. There are ways to get around having to buy every bait.
  13. 7 foot 2 inches MH, Its not too long and not too short. You can throw just about whatever you want on it. If you are like me and can't afford every length and power of a rod and paying for school, you just meet your needs in the middle ?
  14. You should check out Pickwick Lake! Its a beautiful place and I had a lot of success towards the end of last year.
  15. Nice fish, I love to fish this time of the year.
  16. I think most people over complicate fishing. Sometimes fish bite at simplicity. But what do I know? I'm no pro
  17. A hook, weight, and worm. That should catch plenty of fish.
  18. Sounds awesome to me. I know the FLW high school tournaments aren't really that organized as much as BASS. I missed fishing for BASS when my trail changed. Props to Scott!
  19. They are the reason I started fishing tournaments and getting really serious into. I'm a Junior in high school and am hoping to fish all the way through college as well. Their are a couple of them that could have went pro with bass fishing, I know LFG decided that he didn't want to do it anymore after he got married. They are good guys, fun to watch, and entertaining.
  20. Going from the most helpful (IMO) to the more laid back channels in the informatory side of fishing: Fish the moment, Scott Martin, Bama Bass, Lake Fork Guy, and Lunkerstv. The last two have helped me as well just more of an entertainment channel. They seemed to be more informative in the past. Hope this helps! I used to live on youtube lol. The Googan squad is a good group for the most part, they do have expensive baits but they are fairly close to something like that of Yamamoto. Quality/catch rate is close as well.
  21. Haha I've caught some that were the same size as my ned rig. I have a feel for smaller bass I guess.
  22. Agreed. I have never tried fishing with an actual frog tho. May try it
  23. I fish early fall in deeper locations such as main lake points and secondary point. As it gets in the "fall fling" portion, I head to the BACK of the creek and work my way out. I had a pro fisherman tell me to get back there that way I don't waste any time where they were a few weeks before.
