Recomendations On New Jet Boat

Featured Replies

Okay guys in the next couple of months I'm going to be looking into getting a jet boat. The boat is mainly going to be used on the susquehanna river. For those of you that don't know, that river is shallow and filled with massive rocks so I'm going to need something very durable. This boat is going to be used for tournaments so I need to take that into consideration as well. I don't know a whole lot about jet boats (enough to get by) so I'm looking for opinions on make, model, size, hp, etc.  I've got a $20,000 budget so try to keep suggestions within that price range. I'm looking for the nicest, fastest, and most durable boat that I can get within that budget. So what do you guys recommend?

If I had that kind of money to spend on a NICE jet, I would check these guys out http://www.snyderboats.com/default.htm. They have a nice website that explains a lot about them. I've talked to them and you are in there price range for a great jet. They custom build them, strong for the river, just the way you want them laid out. The only negative about them is your probably going to wait till next year to get one from them. But if your not going to get one for the next couple of months, that puts you at almost the end of our fishing season, so you would have the winter also for them to build.

I have a yamaha 50 jet on a 16 1/2' Lowe and it moves two of us great, but mine is not real wide. I fish the Susquehanna also up in the Williamsport area. As long as I stay up on plain, I'm ok in 8" of water and no rocks pop up >:) (could go shallower, but your really pushing it) Just make sure you get a big enough motor. With a boat any bigger than mine, I would definitely go with a 90/65 jet.

Google GatorJet boats.  They make a fishing model and have some used ones available.  I have fished out of a friends several times and have been amazed at the abililities.

I did check out snyder boats. I know some guys who have them, those things are tanks! The only problem is I hear theres like a 2 year waiting list and I don't want to wait that long.

Might be worth a call. With the economy the way it is, maybe they are slow and it wouldn't be that long.

Yea good point. Maybe I will call. From what I here if he didn't talk amd screw around so much he wouldn't have any waiting list at all.
