What is the largest recorded bag of SMB
I've talked to a few locals who fish Erie regularly and they all said if you don't have at least 25lbs in the spring you might as well dump your bag. They said the winning weight in spring tournies is usually over 30lbs

Spinnerbaiting Smallies
1/2oz chart/white with double willow blades. They're awesome in dingy to muddy water. Any translucent colors work well in clear water but I'm partial to war eagle's mouse color.

Terminator Spinnerbait got Terminated with just 1 fish!
My experience with terminator has been hit or miss. I've gotten some gems, but those have been few and far between. I've been using war eagle and nichols spinnerbaits for a while now and they are definitely much higher quality.

Prohibitive favorites hurting participation?
I think it does sometimes. One of the guys in my club used to practically live on one of our local lakes. He would get there friday and leave sunday evening, sleeping on his boat at night. As a result, he got to know the lake better than anyone else, and it got to the point that people would just turn around an leave when they saw him pull up to the ramp because they new they had no shot at winning.

which curado for frogs ?
E7, it really allows you to take up slack quickly, which really comes in hand when a bass blows up far away on a long cast.

carrot stix
The cranking ltx has a softer action, which makes it harder to rip out treble hooked lures, like crankbaits. I have the 6'9 med. version which I use for jerkbaits in the spring and it works great.

why knock Eagle Claw?
that pretty much sums things up

How often do you fish?
4-5 days a week in the summer, with usually a tournament or two on the weekend. During the school year, just tournaments and occasional fun fishing on the weekends.

Catching Bigger Smallies
Try some big 1/2 and 3/4oz white/chartreuse spinnerbaits with gold blades. Smallmouth love 'em, and the larger size and gold blades really stand out in the muddy water you described. Also, try some jerkbaits. I'm typically a lc pointer guy, but in muddy water, xraps have more action and seem to get more attention. The xr8s are a good all around size, but if you want to target smallmouth in the 2.5lb+ range, pick up some xr12s. They're going to seem too big, but trust me, they're not, especially in low vis conditions. Color wise, I would focus on glass ghost for slightly clearer water and hot steel for muddy water. Good luck!

Ho Hum Mono vs. Fluoro
I'm not a scientist so I can't lend any explanations to which line stretches more, but I'm with Crestliner, when you take mono in your hands and try to stretch it, it has much more stretch than fluorocarbon does.

useless partners, sunken rods, lost fish, and big x-raps
He's my friend, we joked about it. He was only useless today, believe me, there have been days that I've been useless and he lets me know it too And he did have us around fish all day, so that was helpful.

useless partners, sunken rods, lost fish, and big x-raps
I was in the back of the boat LOL! He was the boater. I think he was just having a bad day though, he usually doesn't do too bad. And endless, your right, it was a charity event which is really cool, plus my club raised over $10,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society which is great. So I guess I can't complain too much, I had fun and it went to a good cause which is the most important thing.

useless partners, sunken rods, lost fish, and big x-raps
Whats up guys, I haven't been on the forum for a while, I've been busy. But anyway... I fished the annual Leukemia benefit tournament on the river today. I had fun and I caught nice fish. Everybody was throwing spinnerbaits, so I switched it up and threw jerkbaits all day. I got a few keepers on slender pointers in the morning, but in the afternoon I switched to big XR12 x-raps and the big smallmouth destroyed 'em. I lost one smallmouth at the boat that was over 4lbs andI had four solid keepers in the 3lb range, but I couldn't cull my smaller fish. We (it was a team tournament, but my partner didn't boat a fish all day LOL) fishished 14th out of 70 boats with 14.31lbs. If I would have landed that bass that I lost at the boat we would have finished 2nd and taken home $750, but, oh well, things happen. :'( Oh, and I lost a quantum tour rod and reel over the side of the boat... today was expensive

Who made this spinnerbait and where can I get more?
I actually found one of these while looking through some of my old stuff yesterday. I didn't even know I had it. Happy to hear that it catches fish

looks like he found significantly bigger fish than the other guys. I wonder if he had a kicker fish or if he found some better quality. Anybody know?

Spro Bronzeye King Daddy
I'm really excited about these, I've been hoping for a while that spro would come out with a larger size. Any reviews out about it yet? Doesn't look like it will be out until the fall. http://www.***.com/descpageSPROBAITS-SBKD.html

Amistad Falcon Erie- FLW Championship
out of curiosity have you ever fished any of the three (really 4) rivers? Or would you be basing your opinion on what you have seen these guys catch? I see a lot of the "pro's" and other people slamming this place pretty hard. frankly its pretty lame to do so because they are mad they havent found the 20" smallies or the huge schools of spots that the rivers are polluted with. I personally fish all 4 of the rivers and can safely say there are a lot more, and much bigger fish here than you have seen from the classic and the FWC. fact of the matter is this place is difficult to fish to people who arent familiar with it. Pro or not you need to put a hell of a lot more than a couple days of practice in to consistently catch bigger fish here. lastly try to remember A) its up north, we do not have the growing season you have down south not to mention florida strain largemouth it's a river system with an extremely healthy population of a lot of other fish than bass and the competition for food out there is pretty high C) There is a lot of pressure on these waters all season long and D) this isnt like the river systems you see normally with large tidal influences look it is what it is, just watch it, enjoy the competition and try to remember this isnt texas or florida or california. I don't know dude, I've fished with and met several pittsburgh boys who fish three rivers a ton and they all say its a dink factory. I'm sure there are bigger fish there but from what I hear the big smallmouth are few and far between. I personally think that if there were good numbers of 20+" smallmouth there, anglers of that caliber would be finding at least a few.- Good Week for Mad Maxx
The Mad Maxx frogs are really outproducing the spros this week. I was out tuesday and a little bit today and both days they were globbering the mad maxxs but wouldn't touch the bronzeyes, even in the same colors. Maybe it has something to do with the rattles? Here are two of the better ones - If you could, WHERE?
