What do you call accurate bait casting?
I can pitch into a coffee cup out to 10, maybe 15 yards and cast into 1' circle at 30 yrds. At the Bassmaster University I went to, one of the guys there said he was at another Bassmaster University where Jimmy Houston was casting spinnerbaits into peoples pockets from 25-30 yards!

lipless cranks
I use several brands (mostly rat-l-trap, strike king, and BPS). Out of those three my favorite would be the original rat-l-trap.

Rattles with Jigs, Yes? No? Maybe?
Like other people said, I let the water conditions dictate when I use a rattle. If the water is murky, or if I am fishing thick vegetation, I use a rattle. If the water is clear, I don't use a rattle.

Do you have any fishing quirks?
I am the same way. When I was younger, my mom would have to call me at noon, because if she didn't, I would forget to eat. Sometimes I wouldn't realize I forgot to eat until I stepped off the boat at the end of the day, at which point I would feel dizzy and almost pass out. Sometimes she would call and say "Did you eat?", I'd say "No, but I will after this cast." That cast usually turned into another cast, which turned into another cast, which turned into four hours later. Everynight before I fish I put lures on all my rods and plan where I am going to fish at different times of the day. When I get to the water, I end up cutting it all off and not following my plan at all. Also, whenever I go to BPS, I always have a plan as to what I am going to buy. Unless what I have planned to buy is a rod, it never gets bought. For example, if I planned on buying some crankbaits because I need to add to the 37 dozen that I currently own, I will end up buying jigs. And if I plan to buy some spinnerbaits, I will probably end up buying jigs. And if I plan on buying terminal tackle, you guessed it, jigs. Really, the only occasion where I buy non-jig lures is when I go to BPS with the express purpose of buying jigs, in which case I will get the spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and terminal tackle that wasn't bought on other occasions. Also, before I put pork on the back of a jig, I have to taste it. I don't really like the taste, but I have to taste it anyway.

First baitcasting setup?
My first baitcast combo was the pflueger president/extreme rod combo available at BPS. I think now that combo is around $200 now. The president is available with a wide spool version which is great for the heavier line needed for flipping. As for the rod, I would go with a 7' MH for flipping/pitching. If that combo is over your budget, the extreme rod/reel combo usually goes down to $100 when BPS has a sale going on. I have three of these combos and they work great for the price. The extreme reel does come in a flipping model, however I have no experience with it because they don't make it with a left hand retrieve >. The extreme reel is very easy to cast and its settings can be set so that it is easier for someone who is learning to baitcast. The one negative thing I have to say about the extreme reel is that I have had to return 2 of them due to problems with the reel handle locking up. As always BPS replaced it, no questions asked. Nomatter what you choose, I would advise you to buy the best reel/rod that your budget allows. It will make learning easier and a little more pain free.

whats the biggest NE bass u've ever caught
My biggest was a little over eight. I caught her on a wacky rigged 3" watermelon senko in about a foot of water. I was using 6lb test and an ultralite rod, that was a fight!

Thank you for the help. I wasn't aware that there was a northeast forum, how do you go about moving a thread?

Best: WGFS (gotta love Zona) Worst: Bill Dance (AKA "I just caught a massive bass in a florida strip pit that you will never set eyes on, this looks like a good opportunity to shove my sponser BOOYAH down your throat.")

Under what conditions would you KEEP a bass?
The only time I ever kept a bass was this past summer. I reeled in a five pounder, as I was unhooking him from my spinnerbait, I felt my pants get wet. I looked down and my pants and the entire john boat were covered in blood. It was bleeding profusely from the gills. I put it out of its misery, took it home and ate it. It was actually really good. I can't think of any other instance where I would keep one, even if it was a state record. However, I have no problem with people who keep the bass the catch, I just prefer not to.

Susquehanna River
Hello everyone, I'm new here and this is my first post. Well, to cut to the chase, I am going to join a local club that fishes tournaments on the Susquehanna River. The first tournament is in early March. The problem is that I have little experience on the susquehanna river, or rivers in general for that matter. Does anyone have any lure selection suggestions for the susquehanna river, or rivers in general? I was thinking jerkbaits and tubes might work well? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
