  1. -its just a 12" dink - she was on the bed so I had to hit her in the face with my worm before she would open her mouth - I prefer a fast action rod - I put my worm in the tight spots
  2. same dilemma!! Make that three. Being in high school its hard to afford fishing stuff. On the other hand I don't have any bills to pay so all the money I earn gets sucked into my tackle box.
  3. BPS Stik-O's. They harder than Senkos and don't tear up as easy. You can also cast them a mile. I love Stik-O's. I don't know many people who use them though. They stay together much better than senkos though their action isn't as good. I for one would like to see zoom come out a senko-type bait. They are one of the only soft bait manufacturers that doesn't have some permutation of the senko in their line up.
  4. BPS rods are pretty good rods for the money, especially if you get them on sale. They are definately not the best out there but they are still pretty decent for the price.
  5. I'm going to be fishing the susquehanna river at Havre de Grace this weekend. Never been there before. Any tips?
  6. I personally love Terminator Super Stainless and T-1s. I have also been having success with the SK KVD spinnerbaits. There are a lot of good baits on the market, a lot of it really boils down to personal preference.
  7. 1) Bass do see color. 2) Color is definately important but not nearly as important as most people think it is. There are times when it is important to match the hatch exactly but generally speaking color is not as important as lure size, running depth, speed, etc.
  8. The gander mountains by me have good selections but I won't buy from them. They are the single most overpriced outdoor store I have ever come across. I bought a gun from them this past winter (only because they were the only ones carrying the specific gun I wanted) and they charged me almost $100 over MSRP. Remington Core-Lokt ammo in 30/06 was almost $45. For those of you who don't hunt/shoot, you can get the exact same ammo for $20 at BPS.
  9. First off, let me say that an experience fishermen with cheap equipment will always catch more bass than a rookie with a $500 setup. That being said, people are lying to themselves if they think that the lower to mid-priced gear is as good, or almost as good as the high-end stuff. Obviously everyones budgets are different but buying the best gear that you can comfortably afford or justify to yourself will definately enhance your fishing experience. HawgChaser hit the nail on the head (exept for the Quantum thing, I love my Quantums). You give KVD a SK Series 5 crankbait, he will outfish somebody with expensive Lucky Crafts and Megabass cranks everytime. On the other hand, if you give two equally talented anglers the the SK crank and the Lucky Craft crank, the one with the Lucky Craft will outfish the other angler any day. Basically, expensive gear doesn't buy fish but it will buy an edge, whether or not that edge is worth the extra $ is up to the individual angler.
  10. I have a few extremes and for the money, they are great reels. However, If I was in your position I would probably get the Cruxis.
  11. I agree, It can be done if you are using the right gear, but IMO a spinning gear is way more appropriate for the situation.
  12. I like paca chunks and chigger craws personally. IMO pork has way better action but it is a pain in the %$# to get on and off a hook.
  13. Congrats. Shaw is a really nice, genuine guy. I got to talk to him briefly at a Bassmaster university class a few years ago.
  14. Like EastTexasBassin said, I would be ripping a 'trap across the tops of the weeds. Spinnerbaits along the edges would work well too.
  15. There are two times I find myself reaching for a senko over other plastics. The first is when the water is clear and calm with visible structure to cast to. The second time I will throw a senko is as a follow up bait. If I have a bass swirl at a topwater, or even if I just see a bass jump, I will make a cast to that fish with the senko and more often then not the fish will strike it.
  16. I'm not an expert by any means but I think that the bearing quality is much more important than bearing number. That being said, I do find that my reels that have more bearings are much smoother and cast farther than those with fewer bearings.
  17. Nice, I'll have to pick up some of those the next time I hit BPS.
  18. I couldn't agree more. Most of the people I have talked to who think these high end baits aren't worth the money have never used them. On the other hand, most of the people who I have talked to that have tried them think they are worth every penny. These expensive japanese lures won't triple your catch rate but they definately will bag a couple extra bass, and a couple extra bass in a tournament can mean a lot.
  19. All the 3X plastics I've owned ended up melting into a single, unrecognizable blob. I keep all my tackle in the house so I don't know how it got hot enough to melt.
  20. a quantum tour edition on a rod that I built on a g loomis blank.
  21. "Theres one" usually followed by... "She's a big... oh she's feaking huge... man she's really fighting... oh... a stick." and sometimes... 'Don't jump, don't jump... awww @#$%!"
  22. #1: Pop-R #2: Skitterpop #3: XPS popper
  23. Quantums and Pflueger president for me.
