Headed to Kerr Lake

Featured Replies

I'm going to Kerr Lake on Monday with a couple of buddy's I've never fish there before could anyone let me know what to expect this time of year. Both the guys I'm going with has fished there before and have more bass fishing experience than me and nothing would make me happier than to put a whipping on them on water I've never fished before. Do to the fact that I'm going to be a coangler x2 I'm only talking 2 rods and a small amount of tackle so if I could get help narrowing down my selection that would be greatly appreciated.

300 is normal pool.

305+ is "in the bushes."

Lake is very big. You can fish any thing you want from topwaters in the AM to plastics and hard baits all day long.

Shad should be "balling" by now.

Good luck. Let us know how you do

Hi Richard,

My folks have a place on the NC side near Nutbush that we fish at. Where on Kerr Lake will you guys put in or be fishing at?

Found some schooling bass chasing shad, picked up a few doing that. Did alot of spot jumping the guy I was with was prefishing for a tournament this coming weekend. Finished the day with about 20 most in the 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 pound range.

I think he has a plan well until he gets there Saturday

I checked the water level and it is in the 297 range, which means it is low.

Run to Eastland Creek and fish it all the way back and then all the way out as that is the best creek to find the bass "in the bushes."

Also, you may have one tournament out of Eastland Ramp so you will have the creek to yourself.

Good luck and be safe.
