I'm taking my son up to Highland Park Fish Camp Thanksgiving Weekend.  We've got a Crappie Guide for one day.  Any other suggestions/tips for fishing there that weekend?

Are you fishing by yourselves too?

Ok, let me rephrase it. 

Are you bringing your boat to fish the other days?

If not are you looking for other guide recommendations?

If so, what else are you wanting to fish for?

We're looking at renting a boat for the other day. No guide.  Ideally we'd like to catch bass but talking to the guys at the Bait Shop they suggested Crappie.  I'm really just wondering if it is worth heading back out looking for bass, stick to crappie, or just hang out at the Cabin and fish the pond on site.  If we do go looking for bass, what should we be throwing other than shiners?  

Ok, I’d probably stick with crappie as they are probably a better (and easier) bet this time of year.

You could always drag a few shiners while spec fishing too.

Or drift/ slow troll minnows and cast small jigs towards shore and probably connect with a bass or two.
