Rod Holder Question
I'm a bank fisherman and I'm looking to make some DIY rod holders to stick into the bank when I feel like throwing shiners. I'm looking at angle cutting some PVC pipe. Just not sure what size to get. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Techniques for fishing in Florida
I should've been more specific. The techniques and how to's are spot on. Your How to catch your first bass piece nailed it for me. It's more of "It's November, bass are doing this right now" doesn't reflect what's going on here in FL

Orlando area pond fishing
Most bodies of water have fish here. I have had some solid fishing in the retention ponds off of the highways here in CFL. If you're going to Turkey Lake, you can rent a boat from the Parks Dept there. Reserve it early.

Techniques for fishing in Florida
Listen to what these guys are saying and understand most of what the other forums will say about fishing doesn't necessarily apply to Florida fishing. It's just different here. The time I have spent with a guide was very informative. Also, find a bait shop and hangout there. Ask them questions. The people at my local bait shop have been super helpful. (Bitters in Longwood) I've had my best luck with Senkos and Flukes. Red Flake or Blue Flake. Occasionally Junebug. There is always Shiner fishing too. If Eta doesn't come this way this weekend I'll be throwing Shiners with my son in our neighborhood pond

Guides and Guiding
I have hired a guide/charter twice in my life. One saltwater one freshwater. The saltwater trip was ok. the guides were nice but the weather sucked and we really didn't catch much. Plus, most people were getting sick. It was out of their control. We caught a few snapper a piece. When we got back the cleaned all the fish and offered to take us out the next day at no cost to make up for the trip. I appreciated the offer but had plans the following day. I booked a freshwater guide for my son and I and it was absolutely worth it. When I first booked I asked to go Crappie fishing as that was what was suggested where we were going. We met the guide early in the morning and he said Bass was better now so we went with it. I told him whatever he thought was best and to not worry about me focus on my son. I did ask him to help me with a baitcaster. He did all of the above in spades. It was a great 1/2 day. We probably stayed out about an hour extra. Caught 14 on a Bluebird day in about 4 hours. Not to mention some mudfish. Guide was a riot and my son loved it. I can't wait go up and book him again. Completely worth it.

Learning to Fish from the Internet
Without the internet I would get blanked at least twice as much as I do now. Plus, the internet helps keep my son excited about fishing when we can't get out which is great. He loves the old Bill Dance Blooper Vids. I mean who doesn't?

Orlando Florida - Where to begin!?
Hit up Bitters for sure. Also, depends on where you are staying in Orlando, about 45mins to an hour up I4 in Deland is Highland Park Fish Camp. (Bitters sent me there over Thanksgiving and it was Great) They have guides, cabin rentals, boats etc.. Look up Fish Orlando on the FWC site. lots of local info Plenty of parks and retention ponds of fish around here as well.

Highland Park Fish Camp
We're looking at renting a boat for the other day. No guide. Ideally we'd like to catch bass but talking to the guys at the Bait Shop they suggested Crappie. I'm really just wondering if it is worth heading back out looking for bass, stick to crappie, or just hang out at the Cabin and fish the pond on site. If we do go looking for bass, what should we be throwing other than shiners?
