Swim bait jig head

Featured Replies

I’m new to swimbaits and I bought some Matt Allen 3/8oz swimbait jig heads and matched them with 4.8/4.3 and 3.8 Keitech fat impact swing paddle tails. I don’t fish that deep of water. As shallow as 3feet and max of maybe 8feet. Are these a good weight for my needs?

Try 1/8 & 1/4 too

Yep, try at least the 1/4 oz with a 2.8 keitech. Won't sink as fast as the  3/8, and you can swim it in the upper water column easier.

x3 with the above weight recommendations and I'd also recommend checking out their new finesse head for that 3.8" since it has a little smaller/less stout hook.

Can I use the 2.8 Keitech on the 1/8oz head as well?

The 1/8 Matt Allen head uses a stout 3/0 hook... be much better off with their guppy head for the 2.8.

Probably..It doesn't have to fit perfectly. The reason I suggested a lighter weight is IF, you fish from shore, a lighter bait won't have to be reeled as fast to keep it off the bottom, if you want, or Need to, as you are likely making Long cast's.
