BPS Carbonlite 2.0 Heavy

Featured Replies

Looking for suggestions on the Carbonlite series of rods. Don't have a BPS close by so will be ordering online. Thinking of buying a Heavy action carbonlite for punching. 1 to 2 oz weights with 1.5 being most common. Seems they offer 2 different Heavy sticks, one 7'6 rated 3/8 - 2oz and a 7'9 rated 1 - 4oz.

Ive never owned a carbonlite but thought I would enjoy a lightweight punching rod. So all things considered which would you pick? Anyone using this rod for this application?

Thanks

I have the 7'6" Heavy Casting rod.  It has an extra fast tip.  I use for flipping, punching and frogging. I am very happy with it.  I got it last year on BF for $79.99.  Cannot comment on the 7'9" (this one has a fast tip).

What size punch weights have you used?

I use 1 ounce mostly

I've fished the 7'6 and love the carbonlite rods but I dont fish anything over 1/2 oz usually.  If I were going to be using those heavier weights a lot I'd go with the 7'9. The 7'6 would do the job tho and probably be a little more versatile and of course lighter

I can't comment on the heavy but I bought the 6'8 M-XF and the 6'9 MH-XF rods and they are my favorite rods now. Feel great, plenty sensitive, good price in sale, love the Winn grips.

Stick within the Lure rating and you should be more than happy.

I believe that's what I'll do. This rod will most likely stay rigged up with 65lb braid and a 1.5 oz weight. The 7'9 seems like the better fit
