Lowrance ghost network

Featured Replies

Hey guys gonna be buying the lowrance ghost and a Live 12 for the bow. I already have a live 12 at the console and had a few questions. Should I do a Ethernet to share waypoints and such or do a nema network or what do I need?

Your original Live 12 has network information in the manual.

Thanks. I read that. Still have a question. Do I need to have an nema network and Ethernet? Or just one or the other?

Ethernet... Do you already have a nema network?!  If not, do Ethernet.

I know with Garmin, you can network for $50 of so... Custom work.  I have or had the chance to do lowrance, but I make network hubs.

You will want to connect both with an ethernet cable.  This will allow you to synchronize your waypoints, share transducers (view any transducer on the boat), share mapcards, and more.

You also need the NMEA 2000 network to connect both LIVES and your Ghost trolling motor.  NMEA 2000 also lets you share temperature sensors, digital gauges, fluid level sensors, Point-1 antenna, and much more.  Both networks provide a lot of features that make fishing better and more fun.  Hope this helps.

i just bought a ghost tuesday and havent been able to get boat on water yet but tried to play around with this in the driveway last night. The ghost comes with a connector to plug in to your one at the dash, and it is supposed to be able to connect via bluetooth to the units. I think we are waiting on software 19.3 before the bluetooth capability works(supposed to be this month sometimes?) the down imaging & 2d from the built in ducer seems to be working fine on the one up front i have plugged in(its just a gen2 touch) and the carbon on my dash will recognize the ghost on bluetooth, but will not connect yet.

The 19.3 software actually will work to control the Ghost through the NMEA 2000 network. I (along with many others) am testing the software now to find potential bugs.  So far the integration with the Ghost is working well for me to run routes, go to waypoints and anchor, etc.  Don't know when it will be released to the public but hear it is getting close; it will be worth the wait.  I believe the Bluetooth functions are for other features like registration and more, but haven't spent much time studying that yet.  The motor is working awesome, and is the best by far of any I have used.

New to nema 2000. Just got ghost and HDS 7 , do the pedal wires connect to nema or HDS I’m totally lost on this. Would help if lowrance had a decent diagram

Marc has it nailed-- you need both.  NMEA 2000 connects all the items on the boat to pass data for display or control.  Ethernet is like connecting 2 or more computers in a network so each can see the other.  Bluetooth is for disconnected items such as a Mobile Controller or your phone. WiFi connects to the internet so you can download new software updates.  You need them all for different things and your Ghost and HDS setup has them all.

I just purchased my first boat (2021 ranger rt188) and am having three elite fs 9’s installed with the nmea 2000 starter kit and Ethernet cable so I can get the most out of the ghost and elite’s. My question is, how do I have the nmea 2000 set up so I can shut it down when I head home so it isn’t draining my batteries. Also will three batteries be enough to power all of these items for a day on the water?  Thanks for your assistance on this. I appreciate it.
