Falcon LowRider "Swim Jig" LFC-72MH

Featured Replies

looking for a new swim jig rod. Will be paired with a tattle sv 8.1:1 with 20 lb floro. Will be fishing 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 oz swim jigs in grass, around docks, and around letdowns primarily. I live in PA so the fish aren't giants. how do you think this rod would work?

I have several Falcons, but not a Lowrider.  I keep an Original 7' MHF in Florida that I've used with braid for fishing in lily pads.  Works fine.  Falcons seem to have fallen out of favor, but from what I've read the Lowrider is an excellent rod in its price range.  I like mine from the Original to the Expert (original model).  I am going to assume that 1/2 oz. swim jig will be near 3/4 oz. if you use a trailer.  I think Falcons have a tendency to fish a little light so that would be my only concern with this rod.  Hopefully someone that has actually used it will be along to offer more concrete advice.

There is a review on a site we are not allowed to link.  I've never read a bad review of any product on it They give a glowing review of the LowRider.  Said it fishes and feels like a $250 rod.  Light, sensitive and well balanced.  TW has a couple reviews.  Hard to find anything else on the LowRider.

My swim jig rod is a Falcon Cara Head Turner. Never fished the new Low Rider but Falcon usually does a good job keeping the actions similar through their product lines. It’s personal preference but I tend to like shorter rods for swim jigs. I throw them around heavy cover and in pads and the 6’10 rod helps me cast a littler more accurately and maneuver around docks and trees. And the Heavy power helps set the hook and pull the fish out of cover. I wouldn’t even really consider it Heavy though. It’s more of a 4 power MH to me.

I have never used a Low Rider but I like the Cara head turner better for swim jigs too.  For me the Cara swim jig rod was more for weightless flukes, shakey head and light Texas rig.  It was a really great rod with a soft tip and definitely worked best with 3/8 and under lures.

I have not had that rod but have had several Lowriders.  They are very good rods.
