Some confusion between me and the seller - I'm looking at a 2004 Lowe/Sean Nymph with a Merc Classic Fifty on it. Anyone have experience with these motors? Any recommendations?

I'm looking at a 2004 Sea Nymph (Lowe) tomorrow. It has a 2004/2005 50 Hp Mercury. Knowing that I can't give you the specific model at this point - anyone aware of specific issues toook out for in 2004/2005 Mercs?

I have a 2007 50 HP 2-Stroke...Just make sure you get the three intake screws (one for each carburator) dialed in so that the amount of air it's taking in isn't too rich or too lean. When I first got mine I got it from a guy who kept it in his garage for a couple of years without running it much. It would run great but would die when idling almost like it was running out of fuel. It would cough a lot (crack and pop) during idle. The easiest way is to tighten them fully and then open them up in 1/8 turns until you get it right. I have mine set to where it idles right at 1000 rpms on the water muffs which is about 850 submerged in water. She idles like a cat's pur and hasn't stalled out or sneezed once... Just don't get them too rich to where it idles any higher than that because you can blow a power head if they are opened too much....

Looking at the back of the motor (exhaust side) they should be located on the left side of the carbs near the top. It will be a tiny flat head screw with a spring behind the head.
