Daiwa TATULA 150 (New Handle Suggestions)

Featured Replies

I want to replace my handle on my Tatula 150, does anyone have any suggestions? I am looking for a good handle for the price.

I bent mine awhile back and would like to upgrade.

Appreciate it!

What size are you looking for, 90...100mm or smaller? What type of material, aluminum... carbon fiber? If you want the same thing as the stock handle, here you go. https://tackletrap.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=898_660_654&products_id=5136

I am just trying to see what's out there and personal experience of what people have used. And his website is sweet, thank man!

Off topic, I know... but I just got a Tatula 150.   I am having a problem, when palming the reel after the cast, with my left hand adjusting the magnetic brake knob back a click almost every time I cast due to the location/design of the knob.   Do you have this trouble as well?

lots of people have this problem.  I have experienced it myself tho more of when I set the hook i tend to move it. It used to bother me but the braking system on them is sweet enough I've just learned to deal with it. Only option is to alter how you're holding the reel or get rid of it

That was the problem with this platform and why Daiwa created the Tatula CT and now new Tatula 100.  The 150 still uses the old big box Tatula platform from 2012.  Change you grip when palming seems to be the ticket.  Wrap that index finger under the reel and onto the reel seat or try palming with only two fingers in front of the trigger.  Another option would to be to buy the last gen HRF non handle sideplate.  It is an improved design that recesses and covers the mag dial.  I'm probably going to get one for my old Type R.

EDIT: just discovered that this is the last gen HRF.  New HRF is Tatula 100 based, has a distance tuned spool and a high speed level wind for braid/PE line.

Nice to know I wasn't the only one.    That is exactly what I was thinking this morning... they should have recessed that dial!

I may just exchange for another.   I did notice that I was able to avoid the issue by changing the grip, but sure enough, I would go right back to palming the way I always have, lol

thanks for the comments

There is also the Catalina TW which comes in a 4.9 ratio.  It is supposed to be a long bomber of a reel and has a free floating spool unlike the Tatula.  I believe is a based on the older Zillion TW.  It will be big like the Tatula 150 but have a recessed dial, a bomber of a spool and is super smooth an solid feeling from what I hear.  I'm in the market for a 7:1 myself.

I haven't experienced that issue. I love my 150, it's a power house of a reel.

Check out the Daiwa Pad-g handle. I have that handle on a couple of my bigger reels and I love it.

You can get a carbon fiber handle for $30 or so off Amazon that will take Daiwa knobs. I bought a few when they were $15ish. Haven’t seen them that low in a few months though (tariffs maybe).

Just bought a handle for my Shimano for 16. 95, carbon fiber with bearings. I'm sure they have em for Diawa too.

Simple , change the way you palm the reel. Hawgtech sells longer handles.

So I know this is off topic but I just got a tatula elete and I cannot get the thing to cast without a backlash.. I need some help before I end up sending this thing back to the tackle warehouse

start casting with the braking system set on max. Cast and remove the breaks little by little, all the way until you backlash. After you get the backlash out, set the breaks a little higher than where you backlashed at!

AND Boom you have the ultimate performance.
