First FAT IKA SMALLIE

Featured Replies

WOW! AVID AND ROADWARRIOR on the money with this bait. Both fellas tried to get me to try em.\,Avid mailed me a bag. I got onto the St Regis River and put one on with the skirt backwards and on an extra wide 3/0 Gammy hook. I threw it in 17 feet of water next to an old bridge support FIRST CAST 21 inch smallie. My didgital scale(now in the trash) was unreliable but I wil;l say this bass was sligthly over 3 lbs. Elaine had the camera on shore so i didnt get a picture. The only problem was I did catch a few smallies but this lure falls apart way too fast, wish they can do somethiong about this isssue BUT IT DOES CATCH FISH 8-)

Great fish! On average, 21" = 4 1/2 lbs.

Fat Ika should not "fall apart". Unlike a Senko, the Fat Ika is supported by the hook and a bass generally engulfs the entire bait without pulling it down (that is what usually breaks up a Senko). 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hooks will help a great deal. Even on days with a strong bite I can usually fish one bait for an entire outing (1 1/2 - 2hours).

I hope this suggestion helps and I'm glad the Fat Ika worked out for you.
