Has anyone used Bass Pro Shops® Johnny Morris CarbonLite™ 2.0 Casting Rod 7' medium light? What do you think? TW has some lew's 6'10' and another brand, but they are not in stock. I am using it for ned rig. I use casting as my hand is paralyzed except for the thumb and I use zebco omega or bullet (omega zo2 here) as I can operate that reel and it requires a casting rod. How would the morris compare with the ugly stick the same measurements?

I have a 6'6"med light Shimano Compere    casting rod . I lost bass after bass with it . Quit using the thing. Now  its trade fodder .

I have one med light rod now, but wanted another. What did you use that rod for. I hate to lose a fish as it takes me a while to rig a lure sometimes although I have gotten pretty good with it.

I was using it for lures less than 1/4 ounce . I just could not get hooksets with it .

Hi. I'm selling a beautiful rod for what you are looking for. Perfect for a Ned Rigs. I just got an IMX-Pro to replace this one. Take a look, it's incredibly light weight and comfortable.

 

 

I have that Carbonlite ML paired to a Daiwa Zillion and am using it for a ned rig rod. I can cast a 1/6oz head with a finesse trd 40-50 feet. Hook sets and losing fish aren't a problem with the rod. I basically reel into the bite then set the hook. It's a good rod for the money. I have a few different versions of them.

Either is a good choice for Ned rigs.  You don't need a med/fast for those light wire hooks. St. Croix makes a few in med/light that are big sellers up in north country.  Swanson's Bait and Tackle has a great selection and awesome customer service. I have one that I've been using for light wire hair jigs up to 1/4oz. It's light and sensitive. Tried it out on a Ned my last time out.  Didn't catch anything, but confident it'll be a good match.

I have an older BPS Extreme Medium light casting rod and its actually pretty good for light baits and lighter line....Another good option especially for the price is the good old Berkley Lighting Rod, good tip, $40, and lightweight etc....

 

I like the bass pro rods when on sale. I would go to the store for anything under say $80 as many of the rods under that price range just feel inferior imo, not all but some...The bionic blade looked great in the catalog, and then when I received it, was not happy....I like the carbon lights but they have a bunch of different price ranges/quality. I would imagine they are a good value, Most BPS tackle is reliable. 

 

I actually prefer spinning gear for ultralight or light rigs like the Ned, Medium light vs. Medium is different for different brands.....You may find a medium that feels better or lighter than some Medium lights.

 Not the exact models you ask about but here is what I found when buying med light rods.  The lews custom speed stick med light is more of a medium.   I found the bass pro carbon lite (original) as an actual med light and is a very nice rod with good sensitivity and a great price.
