Fishing in the evening after a rainy day

Featured Replies

I am planning on heading out to a local pond in a couple hours after the late afternoon rain. Any tips on fishing after the rain? Or would you suggest fishing like any other dry day. Sun may poke out - not sure. Thanks!

Understanding weather fronts is good knowledge for fisherman.

The basics; rain = low pressure good fishing before and during. Storms moves out followed by high pressure cold front and wind = tough fishing for a few days.

Okay - thanks, Tom. Great tips for my knowledge bank.

I live here in Oregon - where we don't have too many crazy storms. Just rainy days.

I have done well fishing with topwaters in the late afternoon after it rains.

Oregons Columbia River basin near Portland is a magnet for rain and high winds.

Storms march down from Alaska or across from Haiwiian island and funnel through Washington and Oregons coastal areas.  SoCal we pray a few storms get this far south before moving across the country.

Coastal weather is unpredictable, just go fishing, but watch the low and high pressure fronts. You have a low pressure system approaching as I write this.

I always look for water running into the pond. It washes stuff into the pond and the fish hang around there waiting for a meal.
