I have been using Sunline Sniper for a bit and like it very much. However, I hear a lot of guys that like Assassin better and I am considering trying it the next time I need line. Can anyone that has used both give some impressions of both? Certain presentations you like one over the other? Just curious for some opinions you guys might have.

 

I currently have 16lb sniper and 15 lb assasin on 2 similar rods. 

 Assasin seems a a little softer.

Sniper seems to be more forgiving on knots.

sniper seems to stretch less.

Sniper has a smaller diameter.

They are both good line.

Personally I prefer sniper, but it is more expensive.

 

I'm throwing swim jigs and such on 12 lb Assassin and I like it a lot for moving baits so fair. Very manageable and casts well.

It's a price choice.

Assassin has slightly more stretch, as far as I can tell. As a result, it's a little more manageable. I still prefer Sniper because it seems to have better abrasion resistance and sensitivity, but I haven't tested them side by side extensively. If you put both on a rod and didn't tell me, I don't know if it'd be a big difference.

I'm just starting using Assassin for this season, having used Sniper last season, and from what I can tell, Assassin is definitely more supple and is a little easier to tie knots with as a result. I will say I had a toothy critter bite off a newly tied Rerange on the third or fourth cast on 12lb Assassin. Had some fray on the line near the end, wasn't a clean break, so I'm 99% sure it was due to the teeth and not a poor tie. Was pretty bummed. I had 16lb FC100 with me (and some titanium leaders) but no more jerkbaits so I couldn't try to go after that fish later. I don't know that 14lb Sniper (what I used last year) would have fared any better, but so far the 12lb Assassin doesn't seem very abrasion-resistant to me! 

This is funny as I had this conversation with someone just an hour before I saw the post. He talked me into trying Assassin 15# for a mix of handling, feel and abrasion resistance.

Assassin is amazing for moving baits. Very slick line and casts a mile. Sniper makes a killer leader line in some good sizes for finesse and is also good as a general purpose line for pitching and bottom contact baits. And I’m assuming @Delaware Valley Tackle was talking about me lol

Yup. Lol
