Lund Renegade Questions

Featured Replies

I'm looking at buying my first boat: lund renegade. I really like the looks of a black color scheme. Is this a bad idea? will the boat get too hot and show dirt/scratches? Also, how does an 1875 renegade handle larger bodies of water? I'm not talking anything huge, 5000 acres max and on very rare occasion and not in any extreme winds. Thank you for your help.

That depends on color of the carpet. Grey should be ok but can get pretty warm sometimes. Black will show scratches and rock chips, a lot. Dirt shows on just about any color but probably the least on black. Same as any car.

Just waxed my black lund this weekend. 2016 and shes starting to get beat up a little but looks great from a distance!

I own an 1875 Renegade, 115hp proXS does 45mph with 2 guys and gear, and so far I'm happy with it.   I fish a lot of lakes up to 44,000 acres and it takes the rough water surprisingly well, especially once you get it up on plane she skips over the waves nicely and it's a dry ride as well.  My color is the gray/charcoal with the red Lund insert, It's a sharp looking rig.  It isn't a Ranger, but then again it isn't in that price range either.

Pharmfisher, I'd highly recommend non-carpet on the interior if its an option.  The polymer-vinyl non-skid material is so much easier to maintain and clean than marine carpet.  You will NEVER have to worry about a stain on it.

Lund's website shows a carpet or vinyl option. So I'm guessing you mean the vinyl option would be better?

Yes, I would go with that.  I used to be a marine carpet guy myself but was talked into the hard surface option.  After having it for 5 seasons now, I'll never have carpet again.  It does not wear out, it does not fade, it does not rip, it does not stain, it is not slippery when wet, it is not hot in the sun.  The only disadvantage it has is that its a little harder on your knees...that's if you are on your knees a lot in the boat too, which I am not.

Vinyl can get slippery in the snow and ice if that's a concern. See if there is an option for vinyl cockpit/carpeted decks. They offer it in the deep V boats and I think it's the best of both worlds.

I've never fished in the snow/ice so I can't comment on if its slippery.  I'll probably never know either lol

My Lund is black. Yes it shows scratches. The gunwales get extremely hot and will burn you if you're not careful. As far as hot when it comes to fishing, I think that is more of a carpet color option. Lund has/had 2 different grey options. A light and a dark.
