Shimano Chronarch Bantam 100

Featured Replies

Hello,

Just looking for advice as I have acquired a 100 Bantam chronarch that is in really good condition cosmetically.  Not being sure how old the bearings are I would like to see about replacing the two on the side to start with. Are these the correct bearings for the Bantam 100?

I have cleaned the left side of the reel and oiled the bearings according to shimano's instructions, however the spool still just free spins around 7-8 seconds.  Is this normal for the 100?  Everything is turned off as well.

Thanks

Yes. Spool doesn't spin long.  But it will cast a mile.  I wouldn't change a thing because the bearings are high quality.  If anything you might get it professional cleaned and tuned by someone competent,  like DVT Mike..  It's one of Shimanos finest efforts and many are still in service..  Even today it will stand tall against modern competition.

Thanks for the info!  It actually just spins for 3-4 seconds and comes to an abrupt stop. Since i'm not a regular on here how can I get DVT's info to message him either on here or via email?

thanks!

You can click one of my logos and link to my site to email or type it mlawson@delawarevalleytackle.com. If you click on the name in this post you should see a message option for PM. Spin time of a light spool with no load isn’t a good indicator. And yes 3/10/4 is the spool bearing size.
