Daiwa BLX Rods

Featured Replies

There hasn't been much about these rods.  Barely any reviews.  Anyone fished these rods?  How do they compare to the Megabass Destroyer? By the way I'm talking about the "Sensitive Graphite" BLX rods.

I have one of the spinning rods. Haven't used it a ton, but it has been fairly underwhelming for a $400 rod. The blank is super lightweight and the handle feels good, but it's very tip heavy for a 3.3oz rod. Blank doesn't really feel worlds better than my Tatula rods. Definitely not 2-3× better as the price would indicate. I think if they had used AGS guides it could have been a special rod, but as it is, it's just a really good rod. The heavier action casting rods may be a different story. As light as the blanks are, they could be more impressive.

Had the 6-10 light and liked it. Was looking for something a little longer and ended up selling but I was impressed with it. I think its up there with the destroyer rods for sure. I think its more sensitive than expride and maybe close to GLX or on par. Very comfortable to fish too. Not sure what model Tywithay had but different strokes. If you like Daiwa go after a steez AGS. These are impressive and have really nice craftmanship.

I have the short frog rod from the jdm BLX line and really like it.  It’s a LG rod but it still feels plenty sensitive the few times I used it for bottom contact.  The power/taper balance is great as is the build quality.

Thanks for posting the weight of your Daiwa BLX spinning rod. I am looking for the weight of the Daiwa BLX 6'10" Light Sensitive spinning rod. Which model do you have that weighs 3.3 oz.?

Not sure which model TY was referring to but the light BLX 6-10 spinner I had was around that weight range. Super light rod. The light + expride is awesome too. I have fished both and they are similar in action and weight. I think the BLX has a slight edge. I wanted to fish DS with them and they will only handle lighter rigs. Super fun to catch any size fish on. Could be trout or panfish rods in a pinch too.

I have the BLX SG 6101 LFS and mine is 94g.  I mostly use it for weightless worms and also for bigger trout in rivers.  It is a good rod overall but I don’t like the heavy texturing on the blank near the base, and I found it did not cast well on the lower end of the listed weight range.  That said, it is light and the cork on the handle is nice.  I would not personally pay full price for it, but they often show up used for a steal.
