Bought a Boat

Featured Replies

I bought a boat today. I got a 2004 Carolina Skiff J16 with a 2004 Tohatsu 30hp Remote Steer with power tilt and trim. The boat is set up for Bass fishing. It has the large front deck and back deck with dual livewells and bottom line sidefinder depth finder. The boat needs a little bit of work. It hasn't been  run in about a year so I have to get the motor running and boat it self cleaned out and washed but I bought it  from a friend that said the boat ran the last time he had it out and I trust him. Now for the best part. His mom just wanted to get it out  of her front yard so she sold for $750. I am so excited. The hull and trailer is worth more than that alone.

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!  Heck of a deal.  Now the fun starts.  Lots of elbow grease will make it yours.

Carolina Skiff = Great Boat Especially for Florida

Tohatsu Ouboard= bullet proof

The Deal you got=Amazing

Run some sea foam through it!

MAN!!! Did you get a deal or what :o! Bought a boat last year with 35hp Merc. Didn't really know the guy and he told me it hadn't been run in "several" years :-/(no Sta-bil). It had a plastic tank, so no rust. I replaced gas in the tank, the filter and flushed gas the lines. Shot some starter fluid in the carb and it started right up. It idles great and torques real well. Will be ready soon to take it out and hope it doesn't leave me stranded somewhere on the backside of nowhere :). At the minimum do those few things and keep your fingers crossed...

I'm hoping the engine is still in good shape. It looks brand new. I am kind of clueless when it comes to engines, especially the 4 strokes. I was looking online and it said this model has 3 carbs. I'm hoping it doesn't need much more than an impeller. I have never had a 4 stroke and i'm kind of confused about the oil. I have always had engines that used a pre-mix. Any help here would be appreciated. I am very excited about the boat.

just change the oil in spring and fall and mid summer if you use it alot.

thats the beauty of it

use high octane gas and no mix

tried starting my motor for the first time today and on the second turn of the key.......................................

success. She started right and idled pretty smooth. I am stoked.

Glad to hear it fired right up.  I just hope you don't have to explain to any women or kids what a "donkey punch" is!!!
