Used Spike It for the first time

Featured Replies

Picked up the set of Spike It pens at Academy last night, as well as a jar (which I haven't opened yet). I hadn't used the Spike It products before. I used the red pen to touch up a red Ned head that had gotten all chipped up, and also colored the tip of a TRD Finesse red.

Holy cow is that stuff potent, both in smell and in coloring capability. ? Verdict is still out on whether it catches more fish, but count me as impressed with the potency. Now I understand why people are so quick to caution spilling it or getting it on your hands.

Spike-It Dip-N-Glo Plastic Worm Dye Chartreuse Garlic.

Any plastic Watermelon or Green Pumpkin dip the tail.

CAUTION: Do Not Spill on anything!

I did something Sunday I never did before.  Took my shad-colored swimbait and just dipped the tip of the tail in chartreuse spike-it since the water had a slight stain.  Proceeded to catch 7 of my 8 smallie keepers on the day 5 of which were between 3-4 lbs.  Now, would I have caught those fish if I hadn't dipped the tail?  Not sure but this is something I will do again.

Spike-It is a fine product.  JJ's is better.  About twice as strong and colors baits better.  Unless I'm doing a very quick bait change, all my soft plastics get tipped in JJ's.  And then eventually, you will get inducted into a club you don't want to be in......The club of "People That Have Spilled JJ's".  Spilled a bottle in my garage 2 or 3 years ago and still catch whiffs of it occasionally!!

Agree with the above. JJ's is very strong. And very effective. We even use it crappie fishing If we are getting hits and not hooking up.
