Hey guys late last season I boughta used  older modle foot controlled trolling motor.  It worked fine then but I didn't  use it since.  I mounted it today getting ready for the season and went to try it out but nothing happened.  

It is cable steered when I move the petal the motor don't move.  Now I am woundering if there are companys that will repair this or is it easy enough I could do it?  If anyone knows were to get it taken care of or who to talk to that would be great.  

The motor isn't under warrenty if anyone was woundering.  

When you hit the petal to turn a certain direction does it look like it wants to? Like i had a problem where it wouldn't turn but it would stutter and i found a gear was completely stripped.  

No it wasn't doing that.  To be honest once it wasn't doing anything I folded it back up.  I didn't want to make it worse.  

There are people all over the country that fish MinnKota's but most of them do it out of their garage. I know there are only two here in Georgia. I don't know about NJ. Let me see if I can let Google do the work.

Which MK motor is it? Some of the All Terrains had an issue with the bracket in the head that holds the cables down breaking. The fix was a new top head assembly that was modified. Total cost for the kit was around $45-50. That's IF your motor was one of those.

The exact same thing happened to my foot controlled motor. I fixed it for 15 bucks. I am assuming yours is controlled by a cable. But what I did was opened up the ''head" of the trolling motor. There was a circular gear that was turned by a sliding straight gear. The cable had come disconnected from it. I would just open it up and see if that is the problem. if not jsut leave it alone. Unless you are really good at fixing stuff. But yeah just check all the cable connections and your gears. GOOD LUCK

Do you feel any resistance at all when you use the peddle? If not the cable is detached, off its rollers if its a two cable model, or broken. Again, that is if the peddle is limp.

Thanks for your efforts this will be plan B.  I am going to see if I can look at it and get a cheap fix.

Its older the logo isn't even the same.  How do I find the model?  The head is whit and black if that helps any.  So at the top of the shaft were the cables tie in to is were I should look?

So were esactly am I looking?  not in the petal but the top of the shaft were the motor sits.

ok guys I opened the petal & the motor both ends are in bad shape and another has completely snapped   I think i may be able to fix it if i get the peice  Do you guys know how to get parts?

I will post pics in a little.  The cabel in the head is frayed but intact.  The cable snapped towards the petal and the other side is of the pully system in the petal.  I think I am going to have to take this to the repair guys.  Does anyone know how much a job like this will run?  Should I just get a new one?  

I had a back up I gave to my friend and he wouldn't  have a problem letting me use it till I get a new one.  The only thing is that it is a hand tiller control.  I already have the bracket mounted on my boat and my heart is set on a foot controlled motor.  So I would really like to get thyis fixed.

If its an old model and its going to much work to fix it buy a new one. Parts will be hard to get, and it likely won't be worth the cost of labor to fix it.

Yea that is what I was thinking and I talked to my freind who build bikes and he is going to take a look at it. He thinks he can make his own rig for it.  We looked all over the web for the 565 camando steering cables and no luck.

Do you know any were to get it?
