see em' but can't catch em'
I was fishing at a local neighborhood pond here in charlotte and I saw fish just like the ones your are describing. Lol maybe its the same pond. anyway yea they are almost certainly grass carp. To get those bass biting i got three words. BIG A$$ TUBE. Bounce it all over that big girl. If she still isn't biting cast past her and bring it up past her tail and let it sit behind her. I have caught many a big bass in ponds by doing this.

anyone ever fish norman
btw i thinks FLW is still in town you may want to check on that. The fish will be a little shut mouth from seeing all the lures.

anyone ever fish norman
Been catching a lot of fish on beds at the south part of the lake. The northern part maybe entering post spawn but towards the dam they are on their beds. Rocky coves have produced ALOT of bass for me. the 4 lbers are nailing absolutely everything it seems. Tubes however has been the kicker for me. Good luck

Fishing after heavy rain?
Go to the nearest creek channel. Find any type of point jutting into the channel and chuck a swimbait, crankbait, spinnerbait, and then if they still aren't hitting go back with a jig or soft plastic. Thats my tactic after a rain.

Hydrogen Peroxide in Livewells
Michael Schilling, Salt can be put in livewells. It is, like hydrogen peroxide put in livewells in very small concentrations. Freshwater itself is 100% free of salt. Freshwater is typically less than 1% salt. In fact bass, like humans need salt and other electrolytes in the blood. We humans replace it through gatorade and other sports drinks. You can replace the electrolytes in a bass by placing small amounts of salt in your livewell. I personally use maybe a half ounce or less per gallon of water. I have heard of far more per gallon. upwards of 1 ounce per gallon.

Snakes
I dont like snakes and I tend to leave them alone but around my house snakes are always up to no good. I live on a farm and if a snake is within 200 feet of the chicken coop he might as well say his prayers. But if I see one out in the wild where it will do no harm to anything then I avoid and let it be. Sometimes though the deed needs to be done.

Tussahaw Reservoir
They were agressive and didn't need to be enticed with a finesse worm. Or your simply the better fishermen. ;D ;D

Lake Wylie SC/NC
I went out monday. I got a few fish very shallow. I think they were making there beds but thats hard to know as its hard to sight fish on wylie. But they were in less than four feet of water. But as M starr said most of the fish on in 10 ft +-. They are still transitioning to bedding and are pretty eager to eat any baitfish imitation. I would try a jerk bait on points, structure, and channels that are between deep and shallow water. I caught a 4 + lber on a jerbait fishing a point that was next to the river channel but gaurding a shallow cove. Good luck. Tell us how it goes.

Swimming at Bass Pro Shops
Theres a time to do crazy stuff like this. But Bass Pro, come on! They could be doing something much more worth while, like wasting precious dollars on fishing lures. ;D ;D

Questions about buying my first boat?
I would look for an aluminum bass tracker. For around 5000 you can get a REALLY nice used tracker. They are simple yet very effective. They are the fastest being they are aluminum but unless you plan on going 60 + the tracker is perfect. Plus they are rugged and you dont have to worry about the gell coats or any of that. As far as engines, stay with the main brands, (Mercury, Johnson, Evinrude, Yamaha). That way if your engine happens to break the repairs are cheaper. I have a friend who has some oddball engine and he had to ship it by freight to get it fixed because all the marinas around here refused to fix it. Good Luck and post a picture of your new boat when you get it. We all like to see someones new boat.
