Hey all - curious if anyone knew whether I would be allowed to register a boat in CT with a NY License. I bought a lake house up in northeast CT but live in NY. Would like to throw a trolling motor on my nucanoe but will have to get it registered with CT DOT. 

 

Does anyone know if you can register a boat in CT with a NY license? I don't have a CT State ID card yet and the DMV isn't open for that right now. Thanks. 

I can't speak for CT but as a general rule states like money.  In most states, out of state residence are required to register a vehicle if the vehicle is left in that state longer than a specified length of time.  The problem is, if you take the boat back to your home state,  they will not be happy if they check your registration and you're a local resident using a boat registered in another state.  

I was pretty sure I registered a boat in CT when living in PA a few years ago for work.  I googled it and yes, you can.  The CT DMV website has the requirements needed.

You'll need a CT safe boating certificate to reg the boat....
