  1. Interesting.
  2. I don't carry a spare outboard prop. Should I? Maybe. Tough to see me replacing the prop on the water though. I don't fish tournaments anymore so I'm not sure how necessary it is. My prop is stainless steel so unless it gets spun or I hit something hard I don't know that I'll need it.
  3. I'd start by fishing sloooowww. Ned Rig or senkos. Maybe try targeting the slightly deeper water with slower presentations.
  4. I was pretty sure I registered a boat in CT when living in PA a few years ago for work. I googled it and yes, you can. The CT DMV website has the requirements needed.
  5. Zoom creature baits for NED jig heads. Just started throwing the NED rig, I'm sold! Trying to avoid anymore purchases for a bit as the wife can't understand why I need 10 of everything. I do want a new MotorgGuide Tour Pro 82lb with GPS as soon as they're available as my current TM is getting very long in the tooth. Just waiting for them to ship.
  6. Welcome from a fellow Connecticut resident, welcome!
  7. baby bass colored senkos are usually pretty solid baits, not sure if this confirms cannabalism but I'd guess they are.
  8. Happens to me more times than I'd like to admit. Some bass I've caught are even smaller than the bait.
  9. I caught my first bass and then several more on a Ned rig 1 week ago... Wow. I feel better now. Very few fish on a jig, only because I don't fish them much. My fault.
  10. I've had good success with my MG's never run a MK. Both seem to be excellent motors. I'm trying to get the new Tour Pro 82lb with spot lock but apparently MG hasn't shipped them yet. No one has them in stock, if you find someone who does let me know!
  11. Welcome! I'm not too far from you, in Hebron. I tend to fish lakes that are a little closer to me as my time is usually a little limited so I'm not all that familiar of the spots west of the river. There are several electric only or speed restricted lakes that I'll fish to avoid the summer traffic. I run a 19' Sprint boat but dealing with the jet skis, waterskiers, pleasure boaters etc... gets old. Haven't fished Candlewood yet, I'll wait until after Labor Day before I do as it'll be less busy. I've been out 6-8 times and until this past weekend it's been slow for numbers but I have 3 fish over 4lbs already and one ran 6.25. Ct. River, Salmon River are a couple places not too far from you. If you go to the Ct. River there are coves and tributaries you can head to which would help avoid excessive traffic.
  12. Ah, got it! Thanks! I often fish with my Dad who is kinda of an old school guy. He never listens to me and gets hung up and loses more lures than I thought possible. He gives up after 2-3 lost lures too. Lol! Maybe if he listened once in a while...
  13. I'm confused. How did this become a striped bass conversation? Fishing for them is different, especially in CT.
  14. My 2001 Sprint 297 Pro, 19 foot with a 1999 200hp Merc that runs perfectly after dumping 3 grand into it. Sorry that the pic sucks, I'll get a better one when she's in the water. This is my second glass boat and I love the stability while fishing. She'll run low 60s which is fast enough for me.
  15. This spring has sucked so far for weather in the northeast. Possible snow mixed in with rain this Friday into Saturday morning here in central Connecticut. Going to try to get out Sunday morning after a predicted overnight low of around 32 degrees and of course winds out of the north, northwest with gusts to 25mph and a high of a balmy 54. Awesome.

For one reason or another my bass fishing had declined over the past couple of years and I neglected to continue to follow and participate in the forums on this great site. After sorting out some of the things keeping me from fishing as much as I'd like, or at least as I could, I've been out a few times this year and the passion has returned even stronger for the sport. I look forward to the great posts, insights, pics and stories on the forums as well as the articles on the main site.
  17. I used to fish saltwater far more than I do today, now I'm 99% bass. Still, if I'm on vacation somewhere near the coast I'll hit the salt and target anything that'll bite.
  18. Zara Spook in black is my go to surface but I also have done well with poppers and jitterbugs.
  19. It's basically a fuel system "cleaner". Breaks up gunk and carbon deposits. It also acts as a fuel stabilizer. I've used it a couple times when I'm too lazy to pull apart a carb that's been sitting too long. It seems to do the trick pretty well. Not sure it's much better than the other products on the market but I've had good success with it.
  20. I run the Mercury Quickclean, Quickcare and Stabilizer in my Mercury. I use Seafoam for all my other small engines (lawnmower, weed whacker, etc...). Since I started using the Merc products my motor runs great, I will continue to use. Whichever you go with I'd use the recommended amount as directed on the product.
  21. After reading this thread and reliving the wrestling match every time I try to loosen or tighten my regular straps I bought a pair. Easy to install and they work awesome. Not sure why I didn't figure this out before but I won't own another boat with them. Thanks to all who helped educate me on this great trailer/boat upgrade.
  22. I fished with Clearwater Bass Club in 2010 when I still lived in NEPA. Decent club, I believe they're still active. They fished Wallenpaupack quite a bit.
  23. Beautiful day to be out. I like your idea, almost like an iron man kayak fishing tournament. Sounds cool to me.
  24. Nice report. Hit Coventry on Friday, soooo sloowwwww but at least I got out and boat ran well. I'll be hitting Salmon River soon and may make my way north to some of the coves I've had some luck in before.
  25. Nice outing PECo! Strangely enough I was in Newark yesterday for work as well. I plan to hit Coventry lake tomorrow as I have my boat back and am taking a day off. I'll follow with a report.
