Leader Question

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone

I have been using the Yo-Zuri HD Carbon Disappearing Pink 30 Yards Fluorocarbon 15 lb test as leader material for throwing jigs in rocks and wood, I am very happy with it, but I have been going though alot of it lately. I have read about P Line CXX X-Tra strong , I am reading that is super thick and to go down from previously used test diameters. I was thinking about trying the P Line CXX in 12lb as leader material to replace the Yo Zuri. Anyone have any experience with the CXX X-Tra strong , in particular as leader material for rocks and  or wood? Or should I just stick to the Yo Zuri and not even bother with the CXX. Any input is appreciated.

I don't even bother going with 'leader' rated lines for my leaders. Just plain Yo-Zuri Hybrid in 12#...WAY less expensive.

CXX is definitely thick. But it's dang near unbreakable.

Any particular reason you're unhappy with your current line? If you like it, but are looking for a cheaper alternative, I always see people rave about Yo-Zuri's copoly.

The Yo Zuri is good stuff, but I am looking for a cheaper alternative that has similar if not better abrasion resistance.

Ummm - about $10-$12 for a 600yd spool of Hybrid? How much cheaper you want to go?

I'd try their copolymer, then. Or pick up a spool of both and give each a try. A spool of each will run you less than $20.

The Yo Zuri Hybrid(price is good) did not make for good leader material for rocks and wood, the Yo Zuri Flour Leader does but it's more money. The CXX seems like it may fit both needs in regards to price and abrasion resistance.
