  1. I have the 704 and 705, for 3/4oz with trailer, I would go with the 705.
  2. E mail Dobyns and let them see the issue. The rod was bought in new condition and should be in new condition, I recently purchased a Dobyns rod where the techniques the rod could be used for had spelling errors, it doesn't impact performance but I purchased a new rod. I really hope they aren't starting to have quality control issues, or letting sloppy work hit the market , either way it's not acceptable. I sent them picture's of the spelling errors and they sent me paperwork to send the rod back, the replacement rod had all technique's spelt correctly.
  3. Just 1000 yards of 10lb Abraz X for $55 from Midway
  4. It seems like the new Zodias rods are overpowered from their listings, I think I will go with the ML rated rod with the hopes it can serve as a M rated rod. Thanks.
  5. Hi Everyone, I am looking to pick up the new Zodias spinning rod with the Carbon Monocoque handle, I intended to get the 6,9 M but I am hearing its more like a MH and the the ML is more like M. Anyone have any experience or info they could share about the new Zodias spinning rods is greatly appreciated.
  6. 90mm is ok in my opinion, given its 5:0:1 gear ratio, this will become a dedicated cranking reel, im thinking a 105mm avail handle, personally I like the longer handles when dealing with moving baits, especially crankbaits. I've been eyeing the new okuma crankbait select rods(graphite), I think this would pair very well with one.
  7. Anyone know when the Scorpion version will be available?
  8. It's been a while since I have seen a reel that fits the build for lefty cranking, I have been using a lefty Bantam PG that I really like. But with a 5:0:1 gear ratio I can throw some really big deep divers , I assume the handle will something like 84mm, so that will need to be replaced.
  9. I'm not thrilled with the paint job either, I'm hoping the JDM Scorpion 70K version comes out soon, hopefully the paint job will be more desirable.
  10. Dobyns Champion 805CB, 806 CB if you are throwing closer to the 2oz baits.
  11. Hi Everyone, I have a few 16 Scorpion 71s and I would like to replace the stock handles with longer ones, I would like to replace the current handles with 105mm Avail Off-set handle ESD STi2 for Shimano 7mm . My question for anyone who can answer it is, will this handle fit my Scorpion 71s? I don't want to order them and then find out the hard way that they do not fit. I pasted the links below. Thanks in advance. https://japantackle.com/shimano-16scorpion70.html https://japantackle.com/tuning-parts/handles-casting-reels/shimano/avail-esd-sti2-machine-cut-swayback-handle.html
  12. Awesome reel for cranking, I wish they still made it in a lefty version. The Shimano Bantam PG 5:5:1 is a great cranking reel as well.
  13. Revived a rod from Dobyns , the tube was bent and the tip was broken. I sent Dobyns the pics and a new rod is on the way, lets hope FedEx does not break this one.
  14. Anyone know if Shimano will be releasing a Scorpion version of this reel?
  15. Looks like I need to set up direct deposit from my job to Shimano.I love my Scorpion 71s, these look even better.
  16. + 1 on the shady rays, I use the Velocity - Blackout , the warranty is excellent as well.
  17. I use 10lb for cranking and digging into the bottom , I am very happy with it for that application.
  18. The moderate tip on the 7,4 concerns me about 1oz -1.5oz jigs, I guess an expride rated to 2oz would be a better fit, but I dont want broom stick.
  19. I am looking for a bottom contact jig rod to trow 3/4oz -1.5oz title shots and I am torn between the Posion Adrena 7,2 H and the 7,4 H, I will be throwing it into the weeds but nothing too crazy, its not heavy matts or a punching situation. Does anyone have any info/experience to explain the difference between the two rods? Is the 7,4 too much rod for 3/4oz jigs? Does the 7,4 do everything the 7,2 does but handles a little more weight? any info is appreciated.
  20. I have the Major Craft MS-1 Casting Rod 7'3" Med Hvy, I really like it for jigs and other bottom contact baits, it's light and sensitive , great value for the money.
  21. The Yo Zuri Hybrid(price is good) did not make for good leader material for rocks and wood, the Yo Zuri Flour Leader does but it's more money. The CXX seems like it may fit both needs in regards to price and abrasion resistance.
  22. The Yo Zuri is good stuff, but I am looking for a cheaper alternative that has similar if not better abrasion resistance.
  23. Hello Everyone I have been using the Yo-Zuri HD Carbon Disappearing Pink 30 Yards Fluorocarbon 15 lb test as leader material for throwing jigs in rocks and wood, I am very happy with it, but I have been going though alot of it lately. I have read about P Line CXX X-Tra strong , I am reading that is super thick and to go down from previously used test diameters. I was thinking about trying the P Line CXX in 12lb as leader material to replace the Yo Zuri. Anyone have any experience with the CXX X-Tra strong , in particular as leader material for rocks and or wood? Or should I just stick to the Yo Zuri and not even bother with the CXX. Any input is appreciated.
  24. Thanks for the info Thank you
  25. Spinning or Casting rod?
