  1. When it come to the Engetsu BB , the Stile SS and the Bantam PG , The Engetsu and the Sile SS are good reels for cranking, and I prefer to crank with flouro. The Stile SS I cannot use with flouro , not enough line capacity, but with 15lb braid its a winner. The Engetsu BB is a great cranking reel as well , just you need to order the Caenan spool for more line capacity. I picked up the Bantam PG last and it out performs the other reels without a doubt, if I got it first, I would not of purchased the Engetsu BB or the Stile SS. When it comes to cranking, I really don't see those rods as multipurpose , for me it a singular dedicated presentation, I do not use them for anything else except for one. I have the Dobyns Champion CB 705,764,765,804 and 805, everything 7,6 and up is strictly for crankbaits, the 705 CB is a rod I can use for different baits, I like it for chatter baits, square bills, light blade baits and it really shines for suspending jerkbaits.
  2. I use the engetsu BB for cranking and have been very happy with it, I have it set up with Champion 765CB, I pasted a link to it below. But you will need to order a spare Caenan spool from Shimano to increase line capacity, the stock spool is very shallow. I have the Stile as well , I have it paired up with a Dobyns Champion 764 CB with 15lb braid and really like it. I Have the Catalina mated with a Dobyns 805 CB and that's a great set up as well. Look into getting a Lews BB1 5:1:1 , that is another great cranking reel , but it's discontinued in lefty. Finally the Bantam MGL PG is another winner as well, I just ordered the longer handle from Shimano for it. https://www.ebay.com/c/13010775455
  3. Cabelas use to make this , and it was really good for transporting rods/reels. But ever since Bass Pro bought them out they no longer make it. https://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Advanced-Anglers-Pro-Rod-Bags/732130.uts?productVariantId=1200273&avad=932_c1a58a7b1&WT.mc_id=al816&Subid1=SID&adname=datafeed&adtype=df&adid=NA&utm_medium=AFF&utm_source=816&rid=12&WT.tsrc=AFF It was replaced with this https://www.cabelas.com/product/boating/rod-holders-storage/fishing-rod-tubes-cases/pc/104794380/c/104763780/sc/104541480/bass-pro-extreme-combo-caddy/3057428.uts?slotId=2 I have a friend who uses this one from Dicks, he likes it https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/field-stream-pro-rod-bag-15fnsufsrdbg8ftxxfac/15fnsufsrdbg8ftxxfac
  4. Xcalibur Zell Pop (now Booyah Boss Pop) is my 2nd choice behind the Yellow Magic
  5. I use both, but I prefer Shimano.
  6. This lews is very comfortable to palm https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lews_Speed_Spool_LFS_Casting_Reel/descpage-LSSCS.html
  7. I have a few tournament MBs and absolutely love them , since they are discontinued you may be able to get them for discount ,if you can find them.
  8. Thank you for the input, it is appreciated.
  9. Hello Everyone, I hope everyone is doing well. I picked up the Dobyns Champion XP 764 CB for throwing crankbaits like a Norman NXS ,Dt 16 ,Hot Lips Express, etc, nothing heavier than 3/4oz. I have yet to use it, but now I'm questioning if I should of picked up the 804cb instead. Anyone have any insight or actual experience with the 764cb vs. the 804cb. In retrospect, I should of asked this question prior to purchasing the rod , you live you learn. Any and all input is appreciated.
  10. Rod arrived today, and it is in excellent shape. That 40% off was a good deal.
  11. The Shimano Scorpion 70/71 is a winner, I would look at the Dobyns Champion Extreme 742c for the applications you are describing.
  12. Ordered Dobyns spinning rod from SO on 3/30, still nothing . I just hope it doesn't arrive damaged.
  13. Yellow Magic 1/2 oz is my favorite https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Yellow_Magic_Japanese_Popper/descpage-YELLMJP.html
  14. I've played around with alot of different lines for deep cranking and when I say deep cranking I'm using a Dobyns 805CB with a Lews BB1 (5:1:1) gear ratio for throwing DD22s,DT 20s, Hot Lips Express 3/4oz, Duo 15a & 20a,6 & 8XDs as well as other other deep divers and I keep going back to 10 or 12lb seaguar Abraz X.
  15. I have a Dobyns champion extreme 705 and highly recommend it. I don't fish many places where I can skip docks or anything like that, but for bottom contact and sensitivity its a winner.
  16. I use a Dobyns Champion XP 705CB, works great for crank baits like the Normant NXS, DT 10s and I also use it for pointer 100 and Duo Realis 120SPs
  17. This is a great lefty cranking reel(4:9:1) but its pricey, Tackle Trap had it for $165 a few weeks ago. https://www.ebay.com/p/14025131911?iid=264369061240 Also the Bantam PG (5:5:1) Lefty from Japan is a great choice as well.
  18. Shimano Engetsu BB 101 PG, You will have to order a Caenan 100 spool from Shimano for deeper line capacity. https://www.ebay.com/c/13010775455
  19. I've done the braid for cranking , I used 15lb 832 with a loose drag , the loose drag is the key,but I still prefer flouro for cranking.
  20. Dobyns Fury 735 is a rod you could consider and TW has a deal on the right now.
  21. Dobyns Champion XP 705CB, I personally don't like anything with glass.
