Walk off 50 yards of line. Lay down a wet terry towel about 10' in front of your rod. Fold the towel towel and put the line between the folded towel and reel in the line back onto the spool.

PS how do you lift the bass out of the water up to the bridge.

 

usually if its a big one my friend will come and help me pull the line plus i reeling in too till we can swing the fish over.
