V or Flat Bottom?

Featured Replies

What do you mean by sturdy? Flat bottom is more stable, V is better at cutting through the water. Flats can typically hold up to more abuse as well, but they are slower. I hope i answered your question.

pros and cons as fascasterjo said,i had a Jon and all i had was a trolling motor so needless to say it was slow(drag) but it was sturdy as hell tho...

how r you making out with the wheel contraption for the pontoon?

Still haven't thought of an idea to get one on there...

I think this will also depend on the thickness of the hull. My tracker (flat bottom) is a good little jon boat but a Lowes, Alumacraft, or some others have thicker hulls and can take more of a beating.

The other thing to being sturdy will be the support the boat offers.

I will eventually go for a v hull wiht my next one as I want something with soem speed to it (not racing speed but more than I can get out of my tracker 1436).

V's cut water better (as mention above) but I feel flats are more stable if size is the same
