Anyone tried Dobyn Sierra 7 ft ML Spinning rod?

Featured Replies

Looking for a crappy rod, and for some light fishing applications; drop shot, NED rig etc. Maybe even some small mouth fishing w/light tackle. What’s your take on Dobyn rods? Are there better options under $200?

I've got a Sierra 692s paired with a Nasci 1000 that is my ned rig specific setup. I really enjoy it.

For the price I think the Sierra line is a steal! I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I have a falcon expert spinning rod for just this purpose. Very sensitive rod for the $200 price tag. It serves me well for both crappie and light finesse tackle for bass. However, I mostly use it for crappie. Haven't bass fished with that rod in a long time.

I have two Dobyns Fury rods (MH/F casting and M/F spinning) and I love both of them. Based on my experience with them I'm certain the Sierra will be a great rod. Like you I am looking to get a ML spinning combo that can double duty for crappie and light bass (in my case creek smallies mainly). I'd love to have gone with a Fury or Sierra but budget didn't allow. But I'm sure based on how sensitive my Fury rods are that the Sierra ML will be perfect for what you're intending.
