Terminology for grass

Featured Replies

I am new at bass fishing. I hear so many terminology Of “weedline”, but I want to get this straight. Can anyone explain from land all the way to the deepest part of the main lake.

I hear weedline, inside weedline, outside weedline, outside edge, inside edge, etc. I sometimes hear outside weedlines in terms of the main edge of the lake where the grass stop growing, but then hear outside weed edge as the term of what I just said as an example.

I want to wrap things correctly around my head.

thank you.

Grass and weeds are the same thing; aquatic plant growth.

Aquatic plants come in a wide verity not unlike plants out of water they don't grow everywhere. Inside is the shore line, outside is away from the shoreline. Grass or weed growth inbetween the shore line and away from the shoreline are weed lines, inside near the shoreline, outside away from the shoreline.
