One Red Light

Featured Replies

Replaced Interstate Cranking battery with a Delco gel starting battery and the battery charger shows one red light for this new battery.

Anyone out there know why this is happening?

The new battery was charged up  to 15 amps when I purchased it this morning.

Thanks for the input.

Sam, check your charger, some of them do not work with gel batteries. If that is not it, you could try to unplug it and plug it back in, reset it. Aside from that someone else may have an idea.

That too was my first thought.  Your charger may not be compatible with a gel battery.  Some aren’t even with agms.

You may be correct.

The charger came with the Ranger and it is 17 years old.

I have done some research and I like the NOCO Genius GEN3 with the NOCO GCP1 Port Plug Power Inlet.

It can charge acid and gel batteries.

Thanks for everyone's input. That charger has served me well over the years.

Do you actually have a gel instead of an agm?

You got your moneys worth if it lasted 17 years

So I unplugged the unit and waited two minutes and plugged it back into the power outlet.

And yes, the green light for the starting battery glowed a beautiful green.

Thanks to all for your input.

Will check her out this morning to make sure that light is still green.
