I’ve been throwing the frog around my local ponds a bunch lately. I’ve been using a rod that is 6’10”. The weeds around some of the ponds I fish can get tall enough to make it nearly impossible to work the rod without the tip (and oftentimes line) getting tangled up.

 

Any suggestions for a heavy or maybe medium-heavy rod in the 6’6” range that would work well for frogging from the bank?

I fish from the banks a lot and know exactly what you mean: the weeds are a nightmare. But in my experience the long rod still helps. I don’t find I have the power on a short rod like I do with say a 7’2-7’6” rod. So I fish a 7’4” rod from the bank for frogs. I find the longer rod also helps me get around the weeds, horse the fish out of the slop

 

I know what you mean, the last 2" of the rod find everything.

In the past, 6ft 6in rods were very common, but not anymore.

I went down the road of short frog rods last year and I ended up with a Daiwa Black Label LG-631MHFB-FR.  Loving it so far, it's super easy to walk a frog from the bank and to make casts with extremely limited room.  It fishes like a shorter Loomis 844c, but has a slower taper.  

What kind of frogs do you like to throw? That’s a deciding factor, imo

 

EDIT: I ask this because I usually throw a pad crasher jr and Ive found the mojo bass 68mhf is perfect for it. Any heavier and you probably need something a little more dedicated 

I’m usually throwing the full size pad crasher and spro frogs. 

Just a good ol 6'6" St Croix Premier MHF will work just fine.
