How well do you guy's think this will push 2 people weighing around 400 or less pounds in a 14 foot jon boat.

I am wanting it to be as good or better than a 50 pound thrust trolling motor.

i have about that same setup but its a 2 stroke and it moves pretty good i would say deffinitly better than a 50 pound

it will push it around ok. it will also save on the trolling motor batteries.

I am wanting to save on battery power by crossing lake with a gas power motor.

I was also wanting to use it for piece of mind on the river. Its scary going on the river with a trolling motor.

A 2.5 HP does have more muscle than a 50 lb TM and if you are not in a rush to get somewhere reely fast it 's more than enough, all you need to carry is an extra gas can ( just in case ).
