Evergreen 7 MHG vs 7'3HG

Featured Replies

I noticed that the 7MH Glass Evergreen Combat stick is labeled as a Crankbait and Bladed Jig Rod. The 7'3H Glass rod is the Jackhammer Chatterbait rod. Has anyone fished these to compare or specifically fished the 7 MH Glass as a chatterbait rod?

Thanks guys!

Good luck getting a reply.  I couldn't recall ever seeing Evergreen rods mentioned.  So I did a search.  Two or three times an Evergreen rod got mentioned, but I never saw an opinion on them.  Only a casual reference to them.

Tell Him the 7' Mh evergreen glass is a fantastic rod. Sensitive and you feel every little bump even the grass.

I assume this is the Glass model referred to as the crankbait/vibrating jig rod?  What weights do you feel are best with this rod?  I've purchased a few 3/8 and 1/2 oz. chatterbaits and wouldn't mind having a dedicated rod for them.  I see the Heavy is rated for 1/2- 2 oz.  Would the 7' MH Glass be a better option for me?  I had been considering the Dobyns 736 CB Glass rod, but didn't want to go quite that high even though it is highly rated for chatterbaits.  The Evergreen is a better price.

I'd rather have the 7'3 but honestly the 7 MH glass seems fine. Ratings aren't that different. Obviously a few inches shorter but I'm not ripping chatterbaits through the grass and all that. Not much or any grass where I'm fishing most of the time. And I can cast far enough with a 7 foot rod. Thats what I'm doing. If I'm not happy I'll just get the 7'3 down the line..

I throw 3/8 and 1/2oz chatterbaits with Zako trailers and it handles them extremely well....haven't tried anything heavier yet...
