Hey!  I am trying to get into fishing as a more full time hobby.  I live on the Ca Delta and minutes walk from the Sacramento river.  I been looking at gear.  I've bought a reel a 13 fishing concept z. Also I bought some yo zuri hybrid 12 lb.  I was wondering what #braid I should use?  I was planning on using the yo zuri as a leader.  This will be my only rig for now.  I'm fishing from banks and docks also if that matters.  Also any suggestions for a rod to pair with the concept z would be great under $100.  Mostly black bass, striper and small salmon.

Thanks

First off, welcome to BR.

With 12lb hybrid, I would go with 40 lb braid, 40 is a happy medium for all around fishing, and should work fine with your leader choice.

As for rods, there's a lot out there, but for what you want, I'd suggest a 7' MH/F. One rod that falls in your budget range is the Diawa Tatula XT at $99.99. Have a few of these rods and they fish above their price point, fit and finish is pretty nice, they also have EVA split grips.  https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-DAIWAROD.html?from=basres

They also have a Proycon rod at $79.99 with split cork grips. I can't say how these perform as I don't have one, just giving you another option.  https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-DAIWAROD.html?from=basres

There are a host of other brands, but try and stay with a MH/F good all around rod.

I agree with 30-40lb braid. Power Pro is tried and true and wont let you down. My personal favorite is Berkley X5.

Im partial to the Shimano SLX rods and agree on 7' MH/F. Will do just about everything good and some things great. Everything else will do good at some and be more purpose oriented towards others.
