Vanford size

I am becoming a bigger spinning fan than I ever anticipated.

i am running 1000 and 2500 ci4’s and have a eyes On a couple Vanfords. ( kids are taking some on my existing ones). Weight is a consideration and am thinking the 2000 for DS, skipping wacky’s and JB.  The 2500 weighs an ounce more but has considerable drag.

Any input is appreciated

I'm really glad to see Shimano bring the 2000 size back to the US market. It was my go to for years. If I'm not mistaken it's not much heavier than the 1000. I don't remember if you're primarily a braid user but the slightly smaller spool diameter would be more amenable to braid. Drag should be more than adequate. I have to be careful not to overtighten my Stradic 1000's.

With 10# braid, 2000 will be perfect!!

I would go with 2000 size, have 4 myself but on opposite platform. The drag is way enough for bass especially Finesse Technique. The weight save is a lot more important than drag capacity.

You rarely use more then 3 lbs of drag with 2000 -3000 Size spinning reels on Medium power rods. Drag smoothness is very important and Shimano Stratic class reels like the next generation Vanford have superior drags.
