Fishing Glasses?

Featured Replies

Today i was fishing and i was facing the sun that was starting to set behind the trees on the other side of the lake. I had lightly tinted prescription sunglasses that i was wearing but they didnt help much at all, it was extremely hard to see the water and i couldn't really see my line at all. I had to twist my ball cap sideways and pull it down one side of my face to cover my eye and tilt my head sideways and down, i must have  looked like a white 42 year old mentally challenged wanna be gangbanger. What i'm wondering is are there glasses specifically for fishing that make it easy to see the water and your line even when you're facing the sun? Some recommendations would be greatly appreciated but they must be affordable, i think 30 dollars or less would be reasonable for a pair of glasses i'll only use when fishing. I'm sure if i google it or check amazon there will be tons of glasses that say they are for fishing but i wanted to come to you guys first and find out what really works.

Just make sure they're polarized. Mine were not "made" for fishing but they are made by a brand called Suncloud. I believe the exact model is called Highride.

The one thing I would be wary of would be those made by Berkley or Strike King. I bought them because they were cheap and made by fishing brands, but it was a mistake. Poor quality and they did not reduce glare as I hoped they would. Stick with a brand that actually makes glasses.

Thank you that sounds like good advice. That kind of stuff is why i came here first.

Check out Shady Rays online.  I recently bought a pair of glasses for my wife and found a 50% coupon searching online.  They are polarized and I think the cost was less than 30 shipped.  Just looked and the code that I used was “LDW”. Not sure if it still works

After using lots of cheapies I can certainly say that the view through high end glasses like Costa 580G lenses is definitely better. That being said, Huk makes a pair for around $50 with plastic lenses that work way better for me than their price point suggests.

I wear prescription glasses also. I’m too cheap for WileyX glasses. I wear my regular prescription glasses and bought a set of Cocoons that are made to fit over your existing glasses. They are polarized and come in several different shades. I save my prescription sunglasses for driving the truck and the boat to my fishing spots. Cabelas/Bass Pro Sops sells them as well as other retailers if you are interested.

$30 Kast King Hiwassee. Not as clear obviously as the Costa 580G Jose glasses I busted , but pretty good and impressive for the money.

Thanks for the help guys. Ordered a pair of Kast Kings from amazon, i don't remember the model but i picked it because someone in reviews said it fits well over their prescription glasses and that's something i'll have to do. I think the iditarod was the model name. It was only about $17 after a %15 off coupon they had and i had some amazon points to use up. Apreciate the help guys thanks.

I also have Shady Rays.  They have a life time "you break it or lose it or crush it or mangle it or whatever" we'll send you a new pair warranty.  I just did this because the frame around one of the lenses broke, filled out the online form, and in about 3 days I had a brand new pair of sunglasses.  They usually have a black friday BOGO deal and I bought 2 pairs of them a couple years ago.
