fishfinder help

Featured Replies

I am in the market for a fishfinder.  I mostly fish smaller ponds, less than 50 acres.  I do occassionally fish big water. And i am a bit of tech fan.  I am looking for a fishfinder with GPS capability, high pixels, trolling motor mount, and dependable for $500 or less.  I am starting fresh in this search, so any opinions on manufacturers, color vs. B/W, side sonar, etc is welcome.  The unit will be mounted in my v-hull bass destroyer.  What do you guys like and what would you avoid.  Thanks for any help.  Bass Bum

I use a Humminbird 383c Color Combo in my yak.  I'm sure they have a TM mount transducer for this model.

I'm very satisfied with it, though I wish I went for a bigger screen.  Split screen needs mots of real estate.

For $500 and below there are dozens of depth finders that will do a more than adequate job for you.  Side Scan is not in your price range.
